Basic Rights Oregon Lobby Day

  • First Congregational Church 700 Marion St. NE Salem, OR 97401 (map)

Basic Rights Oregon invites you to join hundreds of supporters, allies, and activists from every corner of Oregon for a lobby day in Salem to fight for equality and justice for our communities.

With pro-equality super majorities in Salem and Kate Brown as Governor, the chane to pass progressive legislation is phenomenal. Chief among the bills will be SB52, named "Adi’s Act" after Adi Staub who tragically died of suicide in 2017. LGBTQ youth are at a dramatically higher risk of suicide than their cisgender and straight peers, and in Adi’s memory this bill will provide critical resources and guidance to schools throughout Oregon in support of LGBTQ youth.

Lobby Day starts off with a full lobbying 101 training and time to meet directly with your regional team and volunteer lobby leader to plan your day. BRO will provide all the materials and secure visits with lawmakers from your area. Your group will have a schedule of meetings with electeds, where you will share your stories and urge them to advocate for Adi's Act and other bills BRO supports.

Carpools, child care, and leadership opportunities are all available; find out more when you register here.
