City Club of Eugene: New Oregon Supreme Court Justice Martha Lee Walters

  • UO Baker Center 975 High St. Eugene, OR 97401 (map)

The City Club presents a conversation with Oregon Chief Justice Martha Walters.

From the City Club's website:

Eugene’s own Martha Walters is now the Chief Justice of the Oregon Supreme Court, with all the duties of a sitting justice and responsibility for the administration of all the state courts in Oregon. What forces led her to Oregon and to the law? Learn about her legal practice representing plaintiffs in employment and civil rights litigation law. Find out about the issues facing the judicial system in Oregon today and in the future. Learn about the changes made to the profession and the judiciary by the influx of women to the ranks of lawyers and judges. Chief Justice Walters will be interviewed by her friend and former law partner, Judge Suzanne Chanti, a trial court judge in Lane County. This will be a wide-ranging interview with plenty of time for audience questions.

The event is free to City Club members; admission for the public is $5. Lunch is available for $15 for members and $17 for guests. A cookie and coffee/tea option is also available for $5/$7.
