Americans are fed up with the direction George W. Bush and his Republican Congress have taken this country. Oregonians are fed up with the direction Karen Minnis and a small group of right-wing Oregon House Republicans have taken this state.

On Saturday, October 7th, at 10:30 AM you have a chance to show your support for honest, hard working, independent minded candidates like Peter Defazio, Ted Kulongoski, Vicki Walker, and Chris Edwards, who put the public interest before special interests.

There are only 16 days until ballots go out and 33 days left until Election Day. Ted Kulongoski, Vicki Walker, and Chris Edwards are all running neck and neck with their Republican opponents. Every thing we do could be the difference in each of their campaigns.

There is no time left to say "I'll volunteer next week." The time is now. This is the election where we tell Karl Rove that his dirty tricks won't work anymore. This is the election where we tell the Tom Delays, Duke Cunninghams, Bob Neys, and Jack Abramhoffs that we won't stand silently by as they auction our government off to the highest bidder. This is the election we tell George W. Bush that we reject his failed war, his endless debt, and his dishonesty and incompetence. Now is the time we tell Karen Minnis that we expect the government of Oregon to work for Oregonians-all Oregonians- not the out of state tobacco, energy, and credit card companies that fund her campaigns. 

At the Democratic Party of Lane County, we win elections the old-fashioned way: we get out on the street, knocking on doors, talking to our neighbors. 

Sure we could just send a few elected officials on an all expense, paid trip to Hawaii, like Oregon House Majority Leader Wayne Scott and Majority Whip Derrick Kitts, or a golfing trip to like Gordon Smith. But frankly, we don't have that kind of money and those things don't bring good, honest government.

Talking to our fellow citizens brings good, honest government, and good, honest leaders like Peter Defazio, Ted Kulongoski, Vicki Walker, and Chris Edwards. Please help send them to work for us, and to send a message, loud and clear, that we're not going to allow the sort of cronyism and corruption we've seen in recent years to continue.
